Matt Cardle

Early Life and Music Experience:

27 year old Matt Cardle, winner of the seventh UK season of X Factor, grew up in Essex, England. He was a victim of cancer of the kidneys as an infant which required the removal of one kidney at age 2. He worked a wide range of jobs while doggedly pursuing a music career. His most recent employment has been as a painter while fronting the band Seven Summers who released a self-titled debut album in January 2010.

Matt Cardle auditioned for X Factor in 2010 singing the Amy Winehouse song "You Know I'm No Good." During the intense bootcamp segment he sang a powerful version of Roberta Flack's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." When the show extended the boys group to include those 28 and under, Matt Cardle ended up with Dannii Minogue as mentor instead of landing in the usual 25 and over group. As the season progressed, Matt Cardle began to be viewed as a favorite to win the competition. He headed into the final as the betting favorite across the UK.

'X Factor' Winner and Recording Artist:

Matt Cardle headed into the X Factor final as a heavy favorite from oddsmakers in the UK. He performed the Dido hit single "Here With Me" and then sang with Rihanna for his celebrity duet turning in a solid version of her hit "Unfaithful." Matt Cardle was one of the final three as Cher Lloyd was eliminated. Next he performed Katy Perry's #1 smash "Firework." Next eliminated was the boy band One Direction. Competing against Rebecca Ferguson, Matt Cardle performed his new X Factor single "Many of Horror (When We Collide)," a top 20 pop hit in the UK early in 2010 by the rock band Biffy Clyro. The song went on sale just as Matt Cardle was announced the 2010 winner of X Factor.

"First Time Ever I Saw Your Face"
"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"

Cher Lloyd

The feisty 17-year-old was the bookies favourite to win in the early stages with her unique grime-style, but her popularity has stalled and she has been in the bottom two twice.

As the only one of the final four to survive a gruelling sing-off, Cher is having doubts herself.

At Thursday's press conference the student from Malvern said: "I do expect to be going. I know I'm not going to win it, come on, I'm the rapper."

She was dubbed Cheryl Cole's "mini-me" and has an urban style and attitude to make Simon nervous. She will be performing her duet with Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am.

He has already said he would love to sign Cher if she does not win on Sunday.

She is odds on to drop out first, but with more than a million fans on Facebook time might not have run out for the hip-hop wannabe just yet.
